Police say a woman in Mississippi was killed when she fled a traffic stop and officers fired into her vehicle. The Jackson Police Department says in a news release that an officer stopped the vehicle about 7:30 a.m. Saturday after reports that it had forced another car off the road. The officer requested backup, and the driver fled.
A 48-year-old father accidentally shot his 19-year-old pregnant daughter around 11:15 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Northside Drive in the Robinhood community. The father was hunting and when the daughter came to pick him up, a nightmare unfolded.
Jackson fire crews responded to a house fire on Brookleigh Place in the Brookleigh Hills subdivision after 8 p.m. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire.
Clarksdale has become the latest Delta City to see its first homicide of 2018. Anthony Blissett was shot late Saturday night on Sasse Street. He was transported to a hospital in Memphis where he later died from his injuries. Clarksdale Police say the killing is under investigation.
A 24-year-old man is in critical condition after he was shot multiple times Thursday around 12:00 p.m., Jackson police said. The incident occurred in the 200 block of Rebel Woods Drive at the Pine Ridge Apartments.
Vicksburg police have charged a man in connection with the city’s first homicide of the year. Officers and family members found the body Sunday of Eddie James Burns, 28, lying in a grassy area next to the railroad tracks off Court Street, Vicksburg police said. He had been shot multiple times in the head, police said.
Jackson: police are investigating a deadly single-vehicle crash that occurred on Forest Avenue near Livingston Road Tuesday. Officers said when they arrived at the scene shortly after 6:30 p.m., they discovered a vehicle that had major front-end damage.
Officers arrested two women after finding 51 pounds of heroin during a traffic stop in Mississippi Monday morning, according to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office. The bust happened after officers from a Rankin County drug task force pulled over 23-year-old Arlene Viridiana Moya, who was driving a white Ford SUV with 23-year-old passenger Trisha Lynne Ibarra and Ibarra’s 3-month-old child inside.
Police are investigating a shooting at a chicken processing plant in southern Mississippi that left one person injured. Collins Police Chief Joey Ponder said the department received a call around 4:10 p.m. Monday of an active shooter at Sanderson Farms. When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot in the back, authorities said. The man’s name has not been released.
A Simpson County couple were killed Monday in a house fire. Firefighters said the home on Rodney Sullivan Road was engulfed in flames when they arrived about 5:30 a.m. After the fire was extinguished, the bodies of Raymond Hamilton and his wife, Martha Hamilton, were found inside the house, Simpson County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Chris Wallace said.
Investigators are still trying to determine what caused a fire in Hinds County Monday. Firefighters responded to the blaze at a home on Blackburn Road around 3:30 a.m. According to officials, no one was inside the house at the time of the fire.
The Pike County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who they say broke into the BDS Country Store in Magnolia. Officials said the store, located on Dudley Rimes Rd., was broken in to on Jan. 18.
McComb police are searching for a stolen van that was parked at Catching's Funeral Home on Maryland Avenue around 10 a.m. Wednesday. The van is a white 2001 Chevrolet full size van, authorities said. Its MS tag number is PK487 and it has a Catching's Funeral Home tag on the front bumper, authorities said.

A firefighter was hurt while fighting a house fire in Jackson. The fire reignited Thursday morning on Richmond Circle. The homeowner said she had been cooking Wednesday around 6:30 p.m. and forgot she left something on the stove when grease caused a fire in the kitchen.
Carthage police are searching for Brandon Demetrius McElroy, 24, who is wanted in connection with a shooting that took place Tuesday night, authorities said. Investigators said around 11:30 p.m., officers found a man who had been shot multiple times at a home in the 700 block of Cook Street

Fire heavily damaged units at an apartment complex in Ridgeland. The fire happened around 7 p.m. Saturday night at the Oakbrook Apartments on Old Canton Road. One witness said he and a friend were leaving one of the apartments when they smelled smoke and spotted one of the apartments on fire.
Imothy Michael Noble was arrested in connection to a domestic assault incident that occurred Wednesday night. Deputies found a 39-year-old woman was found semiconscious on Redwood Road in the Redwood community, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said
